Job Purpose

As a team leader, you are responsible for the delivery of an operational area ensuring that all employees working in this area are safe, working according to their training and delivering against the agreed operational budget and site objectives. Principal Accountabilities OPERATIONAL PROCESSES. PROCEDURES AND PROJECT DELIVERY:

Responsible for the physical apperance and safety of the working environment

Review and improve the operating environment through establishing and maintaining housekeeping standards

Ensure health and safety standards are achieved on an ongoing basis and actively promote individual responsibility for health and safety.

Ensure all direct activities have a relevant standard operating procedure and actively pursue the elimination of waste through the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques.

MONITORING AND MEASURING:

Develop and maintain an appropriate daily, weekly and monthly reporting mechanisms to monitor, control and improve performance.

Provide weekly daily and monthly performance reports and develop and maintain visual management boards for the team.

Monitor progress against Key Performance Indicators and cost against budget.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Manage the allocation of work on a daily basis, controlling headcount and overtime budgets and ensuring cost, quality and delivery targets are met.

Promote flexibility through skills training and personal development.

Monitor team absence and performance, taking action where necessary.

Create and maintain a positive team culture and spirit, encouraging involvement from all team members when sharing group, divisional and team information.

Work with appropriate parties to provide solutions to team issues taking account of the appropriate policies and ethical practice.

EXTERNAL INTERFACES

Manage customer interfaces and expectations to ensure excellent customer service is received.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential: -

A minimum of 2 years management experience working in a distribution center.

- Experience of leading a team of 25+ direct reports.

- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Desirable:

- Experience managing distribution center for a 3PL or retailer

-Intermediate knowledge of SAP WMS

-Unipart Way Level 3 in 5 core tools.

-Experience of working with Colleague Council or Trade Union

Three shift patterns available:

6:00am - 2:00pm

11:30am - 19:30pm

2:00pm - 10:00pm I
