Job purpose

To manage the organisation and planning of resources in order to carry out and oversee an efficient and effective Distribution Centre Operation in line with the Standard Operations Procedures (SOP), Client requirements, KPI’s and within budget. To ensure smooth running of all warehouse operations covering receiving, replenishment, picking & packing, dispatch, month end billing and invoice administration. To ensure that the business needs and DC targets are met on a daily basis. To provide leadership to DC Teams in all departments.

 

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Manages staff by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, inducting and organising of training for employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities by ensuring all team members have an active Personal Development Plan (PDP).

2. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; training, coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees. Offering suitable feedback to both positive and negative results. Actively monitor motivation of team members and addressing any issues.

3. To be the key point of contact for all warehouse operations, managers and heads of departments and to assist and act as the driver in ensuring trouble shooting and problem solving is seen through to fruition.

4. Lead operational running of the DC, prioritising under-performing areas and suggesting solutions and managing adjustments through to fruition.

5. Develop and implement medium term DC improvements.

6. Authorise and sign off all DC equipment, reporting upwards in line with Company requirements and authorisations.

7.The job holder is required to manage themselves in a fast-paced work environment. Reporting and escalation of any operational restraints or concerns should be to the Branch Director then Group Logistics Director.

8. Work with the Client Service Executives/Account Managers where/as applicable to ensure the successful implementation and development of DC strategy to compliment the business objectives of SEKO and the Client/s.

9. Plan and monitor branch annual fulfilment budget.

10. Maintaining standards of Health and Safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.

11. Prepare regular reports for Branch Directors and Group Logistics Director detailing performance analytics and p&l performance.

12. Prepare weekly flash reporting to measure progress in the current month.

13. Consistently monitor productivity, KPI’s, analyse performance of Operations Managers, Inventory and Continuous Improvement Management and review under performance with Managers/ Line Reports.

14. Regular analysis and review of Crucial KPI’s for the business and proposal of improvements. To develop strategies and objectives to maximise customer service, productivity, growth, planning and cost control for the DC.

15. Work with Logistics Director and Branch Directors to implement strategic changes.

Qualifications and key skills

· Professional qualifications in Logistics or supply chain management.

· At least five years’ experience of successfully managing a team of reports in a multi-functional logistics based operation.

· Can do attitude with a think out of the box approach to solution design.

· IT literate in MS word, Powerpoint, Visio, Excel and data manipulations including V lookup and pivot tables.

· Well organized, methodical strong communicator at every level.

· Attention to detail.

· Strong Reporting Skills to all levels.

· Employs leadership to situations - works productively with others across the business

· Delivering monthly billing data to the business on time

· Maintain and comply with service level agreements

· Budget compliance

· PDP completion for all employees and review annually

· Financial reporting to the DC Management Team.
