Oxford Biomedica’s Human Resource team is responsible for recruitment, learning & development, employee relations, employee wellbeing, payroll and employee engagement across the business.
We are currently recruiting for a Early Careers Manager to join the team. The purpose of this role is to be accountable for managing the delivery of OXBs Early Careers and Academic Liaison programme, building a strong pipeline of talent by working with schools, universities and other training providers to find and develop talented people, early in their scientific or other professional careers.
Your responsibilities in this role would be:
Driving the early careers strategy, aligning to OXB’s organic growth strategy
Co-ordinating all early careers activity, liaising with internal and external stakeholders
Building links to academia, ensuring strong, sustainable relationships with relevant universities
Influencing, where appropriate, the content of academic courses to ensure that the right skills are being taught, gaining support from internal SME’s to support and to create any specific course content
Oversight and development of the OXB apprenticeship programme, including management of the apprenticeship levy spend
Oversight of all STEM activity, including building links with local schools, colleges and other external providers, attracting early careers talent to apply for apprenticeship and graduate opportunities
Planning and overseeing Assessment Centres for the selection of Apprentices and other Early Career roles
Co-ordinating work placements/internship programmes, ensuring the right balance of placements and supporting the participants through the programme
Input to the annual budget process to ensure that programmes are adequately funded
Measuring and monitoring the success of OXBs Early Careers programmes against KPI’s
To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:
BSc level in a Life Science subject preferred or relevant experience in a similar role
Experience gained in an Early Careers role is essential. This will include graduate / apprentice recruitment and experience of STEM / school / university outreach programmes
A scientific background would be beneficial, in order to build the right programmes from a technical perspective, and build strong relationships with academia
Good understanding of all functions in OXB to ensure that Early Careers opportunities are available to all parts of the business
Experience of and a passion for developing early/emerging talent
Good partnering and influencing skills
