Oxford Biomedica’s Engineering team are responsible for all aspects of Plant, Mechanical, Electrical and Incoming utilities from point of connection into any of our facilities.  This includes laboratories, manufacturing suites and office space.

We are currently recruiting for a Capital Projects Manager to join the team.   The purpose of this role is to

provide direction, governance and ownership of the Engineering, Laboratory Management & Facilities Capital projects across the OXB facilities portfolio.

Your responsibilities in this role would be:

  • Providing long and short capital proposals from within the ENG & FAC team in line with business requirements.
  • Responsible for the delivery of capital projects across all sites on time and budget
  • Ensuring the team operates at the required standard to deliver
  • Working with the head of strategy to deliver the future requirements of OXB whilst maintaining the statutory and regulatory guidelines, practises and procedures
  • Ensure all capital projects are clearly defined and locked down before moving forward
  • Actively develop and manage the Capex budget for the department
  • Full management responsibility of direct reports (capital budget manager, Project administrator, project construction manager & any required specialist contractors to undertake the project (consultants, M&E, Planning)
  • Day to day Management of contract services onsite ensuring that areas aren’t compromised by ongoing repairs, projects or shutdowns
  • Working with other OXB departments/ Management input into all site expansion projects as a key department stakeholder ensuring the ENG, LMT & FAC function meets the obligations and achieves any goals and objectives agreed
  • Ensure implementation of GEP to ensure manufacturing operations impacted are robust and reliable
  • Work with the Director of Engineering identifying capital continuous improvements across sites and ensure they are budgeted for in the correct year
  • Capital replacement of plant and equipment life cycle and program replacements / upgrades into the shutdown opportunities.

 To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Industry relevant Engineering Qualifications / time served apprenticeship
  • Experience in a Pharmaceutical Engineering function operating at both a lead Engineer and management position.
  • Experience Time operating in a highly regulated environment to EU & FDA standards
  • Experience of customer, regulatory & HSE inspections / audits at SME level
  • Leadership of an effective team operating and maintaining critical environments, validated systems, plant, utilities and processes
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing and actively managing Capex and Opex budget.
  • Extensive technical knowledge within plant, utilities, laboratories, building services, pharma containment facilities and suites (CL3) other related equipment and environments
  • Demonstrated and applied knowledge of GEP within critical and validated environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of GMP & Pharmaceutical quality systems
  • Health and safety NEBOSH / IOSH HSAW qualified
