Our recent successes are driving significant growth. As such, we are looking for a Laboratory Project Assistant to join our Analytical Development Group. The purpose of this role is to provide administrative and project-based support to the Research Laboratory Relocation programme, and continuous improvement projects within the Research laboratories. This will include co-ordinating project activities, managing schedules and arranging assignments with the project team/functional teams. The position will suit those looking to develop their skills in a diverse and fast-paced environment, with a variety of office based and lab based activities.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Support the Programme Manager (PM) in the day to day administration and operations of the project.
Schedule regular meetings and record meeting minutes focused on decisions, actions and risks (e.g. assigned tasks and next steps).
Set up and maintain project files for the project, ensure documents are filled correctly and in a timely manner.
Implement new ways of working and support continuous improvement projects in research laboratories.
Lead the coordination and organisation of laboratory storage solutions, process workflows, including training the research department in new working practices and interdepartmental communications.
Champion best practice for research laboratories, working with laboratory management, engineering, warehouse and supply chain.
Co-ordinating and monitoring with team members frequently for updates regarding the work in progress and address potential issues.
Planning, tracking, and reporting on outputs and outcomes.
Risk and Issue tracking which includes highlighting when reviews are required and potential new risks identified which need to be included.
Prepare and provide documentation to internal teams and key stakeholders.
Retrieve necessary information (e.g. user/client requirements).
Tracking change management procedures, including communicating across the team on tasks and timelines ensuring that these are met and change controls are completed.
Create and update workflows to the level agreed to support the project and future operations of the site.
Coordinate quality controls to ensure deliverables meet requirements, timelines, scope and quality.
Key skills and requirements:
Excellent computer skills including MS Office software-in particular Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, with knowledge of Microsoft project (desirable).
Work experience as a Project Administrator, Project Coordinator or similar role.
Hands-on experience, technical documentation and schedules.
Solid organisation and time-management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Able to work effectively in a team and independently.
Strong organisational abilities.
Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.
A commitment to delivering a high quality service with a confident and 'can do' attitude.
A willingness to be flexible with work tasks; being prepared to re-prioritise work if needed.
