Therapy Support Worker - Permanent
£10 Per Hour – 20.5 Hours per week plus additional 6.5 hrs. per month
(Job share considered – minimum 10 hours)
We are looking for a motivating individual to support a 15 year old young man with Cerebral Palsy striving to reach his goals.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will implement behaviour, psychological and cognitive strategies, as well as supporting daily living activities. Providing consistent and appropriate emotional support, facilitating an increase in self-esteem and independence
The role involves organising, motivating and supporting the client to optimise independence, manage personal care and access local leisure, educational and vocational activities.
Hours will predominantly be before and after school, weekends and occasional overnight support at Scout Camp. Opportunities available for additional hours throughout school and family holidays.
Personal care including manual handling and use of hoists
Work within multi-disciplinary team to support rehabilitation
Assist to participate in activities of daily living
Assist with Physiotherapist exercise programme
Assist Aquatic Therapy programme
Assist with Speech & Language Therapy
Work alongside IT Specialist enabling independence through variety of technologies
Previous experience of using hoists
Ability to build good relationships within a family environment
Good communication skills, ability to listen and show empathy, along with a positive and humorous personality.
Previous experience of working with an individual within a family environment
Previous experience of working with cerebral palsy or other neurological disorder
Interest in cooking, music, swimming, technology and outdoor activities
