Hours of work: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Job Details

Job Purpose

  • To ensure the IT network infrastructure is highly available and secure, providing quality service to IT infrastructure services and members.
  •  Use industry best practice methods and approaches to design, develop, test and implement changes to the network infrastructure that enhance and improve IT services
  • To provide support to the service teams.

Key Deliverables

  • To develop, test and implement changes and additions to Network infrastructure services, providing specialist support for specific services
  • To ensure the operation and delivered quality of specific network infrastructure services is maintained to a high standard
  • To provide third line technical support and expert advice on technologies relating to Network Team services
  • Provide input into the strategic direction and planning of Network team activities
  • Proactive maintenance of network infrastructure equipment security/integrity through software upgrades and monitoring of trends in network activity
  • Monitoring network security events and liaising with on and off site security contacts
  • To keep up to date on relevant technology and actively look for potential improvements to service delivery 

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • Computer Science or related degree or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • Relevant technical qualifications (eg CCNP, JNCP, CWNA)

 

Experience

Essentia

  • Specialist knowledge of specific network technologies.
  • Design, implementation and support of infrastructure systems

  • Operating services within a large network infrastructure

Essential

  • The ability to leverage appropriate technical tools to perform day-to-day administration tasks, root-cause analysis and service restoration (such as backup, restore, failover, log interpretation, and performance monitoring) for network systems
  • Analytical skills to consider requirements in order to ensure complete and reliable solutions.
  • The ability to apply industry standard best practice in designing infrastructure solutions.
  • Good interpersonal skills ensuring users ranging from administrative staff to senior level executives articulate their requirements, explaining complex issues, providing training for systems and functionality.
  • Ability to work at a high level of accuracy at the detail level to rigid and sometimes tight deadlines is critical to this role.

  • Ability to convert business requirements into technical specifications and appropriate application solutions.
