Oxford BioMedica’s Design and Discovery Group (DDG) is seeking to recruit a Scientist (Virology) to support our gene therapy programme. The company has a platform of exclusive and pioneering technologies on which are designed, developed and manufactured unique gene and cell-based medicines.

A highly motivated individual will work within this team-orientated group developing the next generation of gene therapy products. The successful candidates will be involved in:

  • Support the development of our gene therapy programmes currently under development within the group
  • Lentiviral vector production and characterisation
  • Other activities within the Research Group

Key skills and requirements:

  • Sc. or Masters degree in relevant Bioscience (e.g. molecular biology, virology or gene and cell therapies)
  • Experience in lentiviral vector technology preferred
  • Relevant lab technical experience with particular emphasis on molecular biology, tissue culture and PCR-based techniques
  • Demonstrable excellent lab-based skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work well in a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge in lentiviral vectors would be an advantage but not essential

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Undertake experimental work including molecular biology, viral vector production and tissue culture for new and existing programmes as required
  • Keep excellent experiment/data records
  • Support other members of the team and the wider Research Group as required
