We are looking to recruit a female personal assistant who will be supporting a 42 year old lady living with her husband and 2 cats Clive and Peanut. She has a complex neurological disorder which can vary from day to day.
She is a strong believer in equality and the social model of disability and has been involved in the disability movement for several years. She enjoys socialising and getting out and about.
Her hobbies include visiting places, crafts (she has a go at most things and occasionally runs her own workshops), car boots (she likes a good bargain), gardening (she grows some of their own fruit and vegetables) and going to the cinema.
The client is female and wishes for female only applicants due to her personal care requirements.
The role is to support a lady in her home and out in the community. She requires assistance with all aspects of her life and day to day living which includes personal and domiciliary care (including hoisting), as well as being able to get out and about.
She likes to do as much as she can herself but as her condition is so unpredictable the amount and type of support she needs can vary from day today. She will need her PA in close proximity most of the time.
We are looking for: Female applicants only. A confident, experienced PA who has an understanding of complex care and learning disabilities. Applicants must have a Full Clean Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
The client may require you to drive her own vehicle (an adapted Fiat Double) but you must also be willing to drive the client in your car and have the appropriate business insurance or willing to obtain this. You must be a confident driver, with clean license. She is a nervous passenger and need reassurance when she is in the car.
We are looking for a personal assistant who is extremely reliable, flexible & adaptable due to unpredictable day to day needs.
The applicant will be required to communicate in English and able to speak, understand, read and write English clearly as she is hard of hearing and accurate record keeping is required. You will be required to complete her daily work log and medication chart and be able to use your initiative and keep yourself occupied. You will need to be willing to help take care of her cats now and then and to provide emergency and holiday cover.
Times and Days required:
16 hours per week, usually 9am – 5pm 2 days per week mainly on a week day but will be required to work some weekends. Must be flexible to cover annual leave and sickness.
Some times and days may vary to meet the clients requirements. Applicants will need to be available to cover other workers for annual leave and other absences.
Due to the nature of the support, 2 weeks of entitled annual leave will be taken when the client goes into respite. PAs will be informed of this in advance.
Rate of Pay: £10 per hour.
