Gene and cell therapy is the treatment of disease by the delivery of therapeutic DNA into a patient’s cells, providing long term and potentially curative treatments for a wide range of diseases. With the potential to transform medicine, the sector holds significant promise with the first commercial products now launched and others rapidly approaching the market

Our recent successes are driving significant growth. As such, we are looking for a Senior Manager within our Process R&D group.  Within this role, you will lead, direct and manage the effective performance of scientific groups and major projects within Process R&D, with a tactical focus on meeting the scientific, clinical, manufacturing and business requirements of the department in line with company goals.  Your responsibilities will be to contribute to the overall group objectives in line with company objectives; Support the development of a portfolio of gene-based therapies from early to late stage by providing expert input into project teams, directing development work, reviewing data, supporting regulatory, clinical and business development activities; Identify and engage with external experts/academic groups in collaborative projects that will advance product development goals.

To be successful, you will hold a Postgraduate degree (or equivalent level qualification) in a relevant science, with a strong track record in the research development/gene therapy/cell engineering/analytics/scale-up of biopharmaceuticals (Industrial experience and/or good publication record).  You will also have good experience of the requirements for GxP compliance, with a good track record of leading multiple groups.  Your attributes will include extensive industry experience in directing cell culture/upstream/downstream projects/activities with a detailed knowledge and experience of developing viral vector based technologies.  You will also have proven leadership and project management experience.
