We are currently recruiting for a Operations Engineer for our client in Bridgwater, TA6

Primary role:             

The Operations Engineer will lead the Operations department, with the Shift Team Leaders reporting directly to them. Will act as the lead site Senior Authorised Person and will be responsibility for the correct application of the Site Safety Rules. Will have delegated management responsibility when the Plant manager is unavailable.



 Key Responsibilities:


  • To act in the role of Senior Authorised Person with respect to the site’s Safety Rules.
  • To ensure the facility is operated in full compliance with all consents, design criteria, planning conditions and Environmental Permit.
  • Maintain and support an effective safety and housekeeping program, including timely communication of all initiatives.
  • To act as senior person in the Operations Department.
  • Deputising for the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager when required.
  • To implement, test and train staff regarding Emergency Procedures and to deal with the relevant stakeholders and emergency services.
  • To ensure all facility inputs & outputs are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to the operations team.
  • Producing detailed incident reports, shift logs and collating all relevant operational data.
  • Liaising with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant personnel regarding projects maintenance, outages and programming of plant improvement.
  • Provide shift cover for other STLs in the event of sickness, holiday or training.

  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to prioritise work load with strong analytical, decision making skills.



Experience for the role:


  • Extensive operations experience in the power generation sector. This can include Energy from Waste, CCGT, Oil, Coal or Biomass.
  • Exposure to working in demanding and dynamic environments, with a proven ability to remain calm and offer consistent leadership.
  • Knowledge of all relevant facility consents, H&S legislation, safe working environments, safety rules and outages.
  • Strong operational and commercial understanding and awareness
